Description:

Silicone rubber stands apart from organic elastomers in one critical respect: the Si–O–Si backbone is inherently inorganic. That molecular architecture translates directly into thermal stability far beyond what EPDM or NBR can deliver — continuous duty at 200°C without chain scission or plasticizer bleed. For appliance tubing carrying drinking water, coffee, or steam, this matters because there is simply nothing volatile to migrate into the fluid stream.

Platinum-catalyzed (addition-cure) vulcanization takes purity a step further. Unlike peroxide-cured silicone, which can leave acidic decomposition byproducts, a platinum system generates no cure residue at all. The result is a tube with exceptionally low extractables, no odor, and no taste transfer. CTI laboratory testing on Micune’s silicone compound confirmed overall migration at N.D. (Not Detected) under 70°C immersion for 2 hours in 10% ethanol simulant — well inside the ≤ 10 mg/dm² ceiling set by GB 4806.16-2025.

4% Acetic Acid ✅ Excellent Per heavy metal migration test
Coffee / Tea (aqueous) ✅ Excellent No flavor absorption or discoloration
Dilute Detergent Solution ✅ Excellent Typical dishwasher environment
Sodium Hypochlorite (dilute) ✓ Good Short-term sanitization cycles only
Mineral Oil ⚠ Limited Silicone swells in hydrocarbon oils
Gasoline / Petroleum Solvents ✗ Not recommended Severe swelling and degradation
Concentrated Acids (H₂SO₄, HCl) ✗ Not recommended Attacks Si–O backbone
Steam (100–150°C) ✅ Excellent Suitable for intermittent steam exposure
Ozone / UV Radiation ✅ Excellent No cracking or surface degradation
Ethylene Glycol (coolant) ✓ Good Acceptable for closed-loop systems
Isopropyl Alcohol ✓ Good Short-term sanitization acceptable
Acetone / Ketones ⚠ Limited Causes temporary swelling; recovers on evaporation

In-House Quality Assurance & Testing:

At Micune Rubber, batch-to-batch consistency is guaranteed through our ISO-9001 certified Quality Management System. Every rubber compound and custom extrusion undergoes rigorous evaluation in our dedicated testing laboratory before shipment. We utilise industry-standard baseline testing, including Mooney Viscometers to measure compound viscosity and Torque Rheometers to verify exact vulcanisation characteristics. This ensures every material formulation strictly adheres to your required specifications and processing parameters.

RFQ:

Standard extrusion tolerance is ±0.1 mm on both inner diameter and outer diameter for tubes up to 20 mm OD; larger sizes hold ±0.15 mm. Minimum wall thickness for a self-supporting round tube is 0.5 mm, though 1.0 mm is recommended for pressurized water-routing applications. Provide your target ID, OD, and operating pressure when requesting a quote so the engineering team can confirm feasibility.

The compound passes GB 4806.16-2025 (CTI-tested, Report No. A226016477010100101, all items PASS including overall migration at N.D.) and meets FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 for repeated food-contact rubber articles. Copies of the relevant CTI and SGS test reports are available on request and can be included with each shipment for OEM traceability files.

Custom color compounding is available across the full RAL and Pantone spectrum, with color-matched masterbatch validated against food-contact migration requirements before production. Dual-color co-extruded tubes — for example, a blue inner bore with a white outer jacket — are feasible using a dual-head extrusion die. Color samples typically ship within 5–7 working days from receipt of a target color swatch.

First-article samples on existing tooling (standard round profiles) ship within 7–10 working days after dimensional confirmation. If a custom profile cross-section or non-standard durometer is needed, allow an additional 3–5 days for compound adjustment and die fabrication. Small-batch sample quantities of 20–50 meters are standard for initial OEM fit-testing.

Production MOQ is typically 500 meters per size/color specification, though smaller initial runs of 200 meters can be accommodated for new-product qualification. Blanket purchase orders with scheduled monthly or quarterly releases are supported, with material reserved against forecast and shipped on call-off dates agreed at order placement.
